Warm oat porridge is a nourishing breakfast alternative to classic sugar bombs such as jam sandwiches or packaged cereals. Oats can help keeping blood sugar levels steady, fill up nicely and can have a soothing effect on nerves.
Oats are naturally gluten-free, can however contain traces of gluten if they are sourced from farms that also produce wheat. 100% gluten-free oats can be found in the ‘gluten-free’ section of the supermarket or health store.
- Pour the oatmeal and water into a cooking pan, add a pinch of salt. Bring oats to boil, reduce to lower heat once the water starts bubbling. Let the porridge simmer for a few minutes, stir frequently. Add water if mixture becomes too thick, porridge should have a creamy consistency.
- Turn off the heat and add pouring cream, mix well. Pour into bowls, sprinkle with cinnamon, maple syrup and pomegranate seeds.
