Spiced oranges

– Serves 4 – 

A refreshingly aromatic and fruity dessert. Warming, exotic and sweet. Fresh oranges drizzled with a sauce of honey and spices. Easy to make and quickly prepared.

Goes well with: festive dinners, Sweet potato & lamb curry, Aubergine & pea curry


INGREDIENTS

100 ml water
1 cinnamon stick
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

WORK DESCRIPTION

  • Juice 1 orange
  • Add the juice, honey, water, cinnamon stick and cloves to small saucepan, let simmer for 10 minutes and reduce to syrup like consistency. Stir frequently
  • Meanwhile peel remaining oranges, use a knife to make sure all white pulp is removed, cut in slices of 1 cm and arrange on 4 plates
  • Scoop sauce over orange slices, decorate with ground cinnamon and serve (leave cloves and cinnamon stick for decoration, don’t eat)
  • Alternatively: prepare in advance, store in fridge and serve either cold or warm
